*Our Summer SAT Prep courses will have modified schedules to better accommodate online instruction. Rather than one 4-hour long class, we will hold a 2-hour morning class and 2-hour afternoon class.
Rest assured that we at PLC are conscious of your students' academic needs and are committed to providing the same quality education online that they would receive in-person. Physical class materials will be provided as needed.

Our Live Online summer courses are designed to completely prepare students for the SAT and give them guided practice. Tutors for the English sections cover everything including writing, grammar, and focused reading. Math tutors take multiple approaches for every type of problem on the SAT, allowing students with different learning styles to find methods they can use.
This course includes full-length diagnostic test, three full-length simulation exams and a cumulative review.

Live Online Summer SAT Prep Course C (Classes begin: 8/5/2021)
We are moving many of our 2021 summer classes to live online instruction until further notice. We will monitor the situation closely and may re-evaluate whether to open in-person classes later this summer.
Similar to our standard Live Online summer SAT course A & B, our Live Online SAT course C are intensively designed to completely prepare students for the NEW SAT and give them guided practice. But at a faster pace, the intensive course is to accommodate busy summer schedules or students who desire more intensive practice. Students receive all the same great test prep information and advice, but they meet with our tutors four days a week for focused practice sessions. Tutors for both the English and Math sections of the test work with students through rigorous material designed to improve the students' capabilities in every section by as much as possible.
This course includes full-length diagnostic test, full-length simulation exam and a cumulative review.

Live Online Summer ACT Prep Course
Summer ACT Prep Courses will likely be moved to live online instruction.
Our Live Online courses are designed to completely prepare students for the ACT and give them guided practice with real exam problems.
Tutors for the English sections cover everything from writing and grammar to vocabulary and focused reading. Math tutors take multiple approaches for every type of problem on the ACT, allowing students with different learning styles to find methods they can understand. The Science section is unique to the ACT and requires students to be able to use "scientific reasoning" as well as recall facts from their high school science courses. Our tutors help the students review the academic information and understand what kinds of questions they will be facing.
This course includes full-length diagnostic test and full-length simulation exams using real tests and a cumulative review.

Upcoming ACT Test Dates
TJ Admission Essay Prep In-Person One-on-One Tutoring - Class of 2026
We are currently planning to hold In-Person One-on-One Tutoring. We are strictly limiting the class sizes to one at Fairfax and McLean to allow for social distancing in the largest classrooms. We are monitoring the situation closely and will make adjustments if needed.
TJHSST Admission Eligibility Requirements:
- New Requirements : Enrolled in both math and science honors courses. Enrolled in one additional honors course or identified as a Young Scholar*. (*Information regarding potential waivers will be forthcoming.)
- Math Requirements: Applicants to the freshman class at TJHSST must be taking a full-year of Honors Algebra 1 for high school credit or a higher level math course in grade 8 to apply to TJHSST. Algebra 1, Part A does not satisfy the math prerequisite for freshman application. Your school must verify the math course you are enrolled in for grade 8 on the application form.
- Grade Point Average (GPA): All applicants to TJHSST, at the completion of 7th grade, must have a GPA of 3.5 or higher in order to be eligible to apply.
TJHSST Freshman Application Key Components:
Students will be evaluated on their grade point average (GPA); a portrait sheet where they will be asked to demonstrate Portrait of a Graduate attributes and 21st centaury skills; a problem-solving essay; and experience factors.
- Complete the Student Portrait Sheet: Students will demonstrate Portrait of a Graduate attributes and 21st Century Skills.
- Problem-Solving Essay: May include math and/or science, but will most likely be a test mainly of the students’ ability to organize and communicate conclusions about a complex topic.

2018 Summer English Enrichment Course
☞ 12 Sessions in Six-Week Program: Monday, June 18 through Friday, July 27
Summer English Enrichment courses help elimentary school, middle school and high school students in four vital language areas: Reading Comprehension, Vocabulary, Mechanics, and Composition. Twice-weekly meetings mean students stay in practice through the summer, building vocabulary and critical thinking abilities and readying themselves for upcoming fall classes. Classes are capped at 6 students, creating a comfortable environment in which to share and explore new concepts. All classes are capped at 5 students to allow for individualized attention. Levels are determined by a diagnostic test on 3:00-4:00pm, Saturday, June 16 at Fairfax Branch. All level diagnostic tests will take place at Fairfax Branch, regardless of the location of the class.

Summer SAT Subject Courses will be moved to live online instruction until further notice.
SAT Subject Tests are not connected to specific textbooks or teaching methods, but instead reflect what is taught in typical high school courses. For most subjects, students should consider taking the test at the end of the course.
- Tutors will provide the best test taking strategies, the best test preparation strategies, and help students with any problem areas.
- One-on-One classes allow for more personalized instruction for your student's needs. These classes are ideal for students who prefer private tutoring or whose schedules are too complicated for standard classes.
